Position Description
This position will report to Finance with a dotted line to the YCS acting as the finance liaison to the YCS department. Candidate must be a Finance Manager with expertise in Financial Analysis, Reporting and Budgeting, account analysis, accruals as well as ad hoc special projects. Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing duties outlined below.
Major Responsibilities:
Develop and manage the budgeting, quarterly projections, monthly P/L review, account and financial analysis for the YCS departments. Responsibilities also consist of budgeting for all capital, revenue & operational expenses for YCS programs, events and/or department initiatives.
Prepare consolidated projections and detailed variance analysis which will be reviewed with YCS management, Finance and senior management for an overview of the YCS financial operations.
Develop financial modeling and cost benefit analysis for proposed NYRR growth plans and strategies. Assist in projecting future financial needs for all department initiatives.
Evaluate revenue opportunities and expense reduction opportunities for the YCS group.
Ability to handle financial aspects of grant management and compliance, timely filing of expenditures to agencies and foundations and related accounting treatment.
Handle all of the day to day accounting functions including review check requests, Concur, Amex, POs, payroll, journal entries, etc.
Automate manual processes and suggest process improvements.
Supervise and manage staff.
Ad hoc reporting and special projects as needed.
Position Requirements
BA in Accounting or Finance required; MBA/CPA preferred.
Minimum 8-10 years of financial management, preferably in the nonprofit industry.
Knowledge and application of GAAP.
Ability to plan, organize and prepare budgets and provide detailed analysis.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to strategize, prioritize and execute.
Candidate must be organized, focused and extremely articulate with the ability to effectively run meetings, communicate and interact confidently with management.
Advanced Excel skills, must have the ability to work with large amounts of data from multiple systems, develop ad hoc reporting and analysis (use of Pivots and Lookup formulas a plus).
Focused attention to detail. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, work under tight deadlines and thrive in a fast paced environment.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
