Summary:
The USA Triathlon (USAT) Event Services internship is a unique and exciting opportunity to experience the behind the scenes action of a National Governing Body (NGB). The Event Services intern works directly with race directors, USAT’s insurance provider, and USAT sponsors.  During the semester, the USAT intern will be afforded the opportunity to develop and apply skills in various areas including but not limited to customer service, project development, administrative support, writing and editing, data management and inventory management. This opportunity provides a well-rounded internship for any career-driven individual that focuses on an expanding and innovative department.
 
Essential Job Functions:
1.       Learn the daily functions of the Event Services Department.
2.       Update web and social media content for race directors as needed.
3.       Analyze sanction applications and provide customer service for the race directors.
4.       Support Coaching Education and Race Director Education programs in preparation for certifications and webinars.
5.       Support Event Services, Rankings, and Accounting with pre and post-race materials.
6.       Program research and analysis for the Race Director Committee, Sport Development, and Membership Teams.
7.       Inventory management and shipping logistics for race directors and officials. 
8.       Coordinate with our insurance companies to provide support to our sanctioning race directors
9.       Communicate and manage sponsorship programs to increase race director’s satisfaction
 
Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements:  Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at the junior or senior level status or enrolled in a master’s degree program

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills. 

  • Detail oriented

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point & Outlook.

  • Passion for sport and the Ideals of the Olympic Movement

  • Familiarity with Triathlon preferred but not required. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work in fast paced multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Ability to travel, occasionally work long hours and handle some light physical activity

  • Must be eligible to work in the USA.

 
Compensation:
  • Unpaid/College Credit.

Internship Schedule: This internship will be 20-25 hour per week.
Duration: The duration of the internship is flexible. At least a fall internship.
