Summary:  
The Corpus Christi Hooks are seeking a Director of Finance.  This position will oversee the operations of the Corpus Christi Hooks accounting department, provide financial oversight of all internal departments, execute monthly close processes and financial reporting functions.  This position will be located in Corpus Christi, Texas.  
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Full responsibility of all accounting and finance functions of the Hooks 

  • Provide leadership, management and development of direct reports  

  • Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing the company’s performance and risks

  • Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and proactively respond to issues

  • Perform and supervise accounting duties related to the month-end close, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting

  • Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance on a monthly and annual basis

  • Conduct financial statement analysis to make forecasts and strategic recommendations to management

  • Oversee all audit and internal control operations

  • Assist in preparing financial reports as requested by Minor League Baseball on an as needed basis

  • Instill fiscal responsibility, appropriate checks and balances, and enforce financial approval processes

  • Other related duties as required or assigned, including participating in the execution of gameday responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages the finance and accounting department. 


Work Environment
Position will work in an office and stadium environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment.  
 
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Due to the nature of this position, the position requires hours of work and days that include frequent nights, weekends and holiday. 


Travel
Limited travel is expected for this position.


Required Education and Experience

  • College degree in accounting or finance

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in finance or accounting; sports or entertainment experience preferred

  • CPA preferred

  • JD Edwards EnterpriseOne experience preferred 

  • Demonstrated quick learner with ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines


  • Proven time management, organization, prioritization skills and follow-through

  • High level of demonstrated professionalism, integrity and ability to maintain sensitive information and appropriate decorum

  • Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with staff members

  • Creative, energetic and proactive approach to work

  • Ability to anticipate and make recommendations based upon the needs of the organization

  • Comfortable making and executing requests

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
