Game Administrator
Job Summary
COMPENSATION: $25/hr (this is a part time position)
GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the appropriate Director, the Game Administrator will focus on the prevention and elimination of negative sportsmanship by players, coaches, and fans.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience Requirements:
1. Minimum age 25
2. Minimum of six years’ experience controlling an environment or monitoring boundaries – officiating, principal, bouncer
Physical/Mental Requirements:
1. Must be able to perform the following physical activities; climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for extended periods of time, walk, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity
2. Must have tact and demonstrate a professional approach to sensitive matters
3. Must have good judgement and communicate effectively and timely; verbal, non-verbal and written
4. Must display self-control by calmly and effectively de-escalate situations involving angry or upset members and guests
5. Must be able to relate to and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner
6. Ability to handle all questions/concerns and resolve conflicts in a courteous and professional manner
7. Ability to demonstrate a high level of maturity, patience, dependability, sound judgement; and the desire to work with all ages, especially children
8. Ability to foster positive relationships with members and program participants
9. Must possess ability to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality
10. Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times
Job Requirements:
1. Commitment to the YMCA mission, vision and values
2. Complete CPR/AED, First Aid and O2
3. Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the association; to include evenings and weekends
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Must be present on the gymnasium floor at all times.
2. Must greet officials, players, coaches, and fans as they enter the facility during warm-ups
3. Must actively observe game play, officials and the crowd on assigned courts during game time.
4. Required to work as a team with other Game Administrators by clearly communicating issues and actions through use of in-person conversation and walkie-talkies.
5. Conducting routine building walk-throughs of assigned areas.
6. Understanding and enforcing the branch policies and procedures.
7. Providing clear and consistent expectations for behavior; setting firm limits with positive phrasing and actions when necessary.
8. Supporting and demonstrating discipline practices in accordance with YMCA policies. Informing supervisor of any concerns or situations.
9. Ensuring that all members, guests and program participants relate to each other, the equipment and facility in a positive manner.
10. Following all risk management guidelines according to branch policies and procedures and be prepared to implement emergency procedures.
11. Contacting law enforcement when issues escalate to violence or when individuals refuse to leave the premises.
12. Preparing accurate and complete incident reports in a timely manner.
13. Responding to security and emergency situations while remaining calm and professional.
14. Supporting Strong Community Campaign efforts.
15. All other duties as assigned.
EFFECT ON END RESULT: Provide a positive, safe and supervised facility for all members, guests and program participants.
