Job Summary
The role of the trainer is to work directly with players to develop their hockey skills using the tools and techniques in the HDC methodology. Trainers will instruct customers in proper form in all aspects of hockey training including skating on the hockey skating treadmill, shot training, development of hockey sense using virtual reality tools, strength training in the hockey gym, and skill application on ice as needed. The trainer will utilize BeeSport diagnostic tools and skate analysis applications to establish a baseline and goals for the player. The trainer will be a partner to the players, providing feedback and motivation as they train.
All trainers are responsible for attracting new customers by engaging with local athletes and teams both in person and by phone/social media. A robust network of athletes is essential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Conduct training sessions with players inside and outside of the center.

Overseeing player testing, implementing training plans, and realizing skills progression.

Responsible for keeping in contact with players in order to book follow up training sessions and track player progress.

Assist in various functions for the facility including, but not limited to, sharpening skates, booking training sessions, welcoming players, and other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma required
-
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the hockey/sports industry.

An extensive knowledge of hockey fundamentals and development tactics required.

Coaching/team management background. High level player background preferred.

Strong interpersonal communications skills and computer skills.

Must have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills with players and employees, both in person or by phone.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
-
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to moderate noise levels.

Work responsibilities will be performed in a gym, in the hockey skating/training area on synthetic ice, as well as occasionally on ice.

Meeting and class presentations may be required to groups, teams, and industry professionals.

Maintenance and cleaning equipment that includes floor cleaners, skate sharpeners, vacuums, mops, and any other equipment associated with use in a recreational facility.

International travel required for training. Some occasional additional travel may be required. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away for one or more nights.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and some holidays.
