Major League Rugby (MLR) is the premier professional rugby league in North America, dedicated to fostering high-stakes competition and a passionate community rooted in respect, inclusivity, and tradition. MLR matches are broadcasted on Fox Sports, local market platforms, and The Rugby Network, offering fans access to live streams of MLR matches and other international rugby content.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

-              Draft, prepare, and review various transactional documents, including sponsorships, licensing, media rights, joint ventures, consulting agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and other legal agreements.

-              Support league and team governance, ownership transactions, and expansion matters.

-              Provide legal support on intellectual property matters, including trademark and copyright prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement.

-              Offer strategic legal advice to business teams on data collection, processing, and privacy compliance.

-              Assist in developing league policies and procedures, and interpreting applicable league rules.

-              Support risk management efforts, including the management of insurance policies.

-              Drive continuous improvements in policies, processes, and document templates; evaluate workflows and establish priorities.

-              Perform other ad hoc projects as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

-              Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.

-              At least 5 years of relevant experience at a leading law firm and/or corporate legal department.

-              Strong teamwork and relationship management skills; ability to work effectively as a liaison between the legal department and all internal clients and external partners/stakeholders.

-              Flexibility and resourcefulness in response to changing priorities and needs.

-              Willingness to continuously acquire new competencies and accept new challenges.

-              Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.

-              Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

-              Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to manage communications and projects with a remote workforce.

-              Demonstrated honesty, responsibility, integrity, and dedication to fulfilling commitments.

-              Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical, and critical thinking skills.

-              Willingness to work nontraditional hours as needed.

-              Strong drafting and negotiating skills.
