Who we are
The Kent Tigers Basketball Club is a newly formed club based in the Medway area that aim to compete in the NBL league for the 2022-23 season. We are currently using the 2021-22 season to form the core team that will be competing in the league next season, by using friendlies and entering basketball tournaments/cups. Our club was established to provide elite basketball experience in the Kent area with the aims of climbing up the basketball pyramid.
Kent Tigers are looking to appoint a Head Coach for our Men’s Senior team based in Medway Park in Kent (Mill Rd, Gillingham, ME7 1HF). The coach will be responsible for the team and coaching the Mens team in line with the aims and objectives of the club.
The role is ideal for an ambitious coach who wants the opportunity to develop and progress their coaching career, having already served as Head Coach or Assistant coach of a men’s basketball team. The Tigers are looking for a coach with excellent basketball knowledge, combined with enthusiasm and strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
The role will be based in Medway, Kent, ME7 1HF with preference of candidates that live locally or within good driving distance.
To coach the Kent Tigers mens team to a high level reasonably expected of a basketball coach of Basketball England level 2 or level 3 qualification.
To lead the team in all aspects of the game including but not limited to team practices, games, individual players sessions, video analysis and other associated roles.
To do everything necessary to develop and maintain the fitness of each player.
To work within the clubs philosophy and framework.
To take a professional approach in the planning, preparation and organisation of the role as a Head Coach of the Tigers.
To represent the club well inside and outside of the club, on social media, in the community and beyond.
To build and maintain relationships with various partners in the community and within the club.
To help support and develop other club colleagues and coaches.
To be flexible with working hours, including unsocial hours, and prepared to work at weekends as required.
Minimum hold a valid Basketball England Level 2 Coach Award or equivalent
Experience of coaching at men’s senior level
Experience of working in a club environment with other coaches and staff
Experience of monitoring and oversight of programmes
Current and clean driving licence
Good level of IT literacy (word/pages processing, emails, spreadsheet etc)
Evidence of basketball experience (pictures, articles, links etc)
Reference of current/most recent employer and/or club
Start Date: 19th October 2021
Salary: £10 to £30 per hour (Depending on experience)
