Associate/Assistant for Athletic Communications/Graphic Design

Job Summary

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary graphic designer for The Athletic Department and Athletic Communications Office and design content for the official athletics website, athletics social media, and athletic marketing & promotional print materials (posters, schedule cards, etc.); Create graphic templates as needed; Collaborate with the external operations team to conceptualize, create, and distribute strategic and cutting-edge content inclusive of graphics, video, and digital assets.
  • Responsible for several of The Athletic programs; write and edit news releases; prepare games notes; create social media content; write and edit  other featured releases, manage team rosters, statistics, records and photo archives.
  • Assist Ticketing and Marketing operations in creating unique and original content to enhance ticket sales, increase fan engagement, and promote fan experience. 
  • Assist in game day media experience for the communications department.
  • Assist in managing of The official athletics website
  • Identify, coordinate and manage athletic communications game-day staffing needs and responsibilities for assigned sports and serve as game day operations staff in a support role for other sports as needed.
  • Be responsible for meeting deadlines and coordinating multiple tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Be responsible for understanding and adhering to all Southern Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, graphic design, or related field.
  • Experience in web design and professional utilization of social media.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in writing releases.
  • Social media experience, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in web design and management of web pages.
  • Collegiate sport statistics experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience as a graphic designer in a professional or college sports setting.
  • Experience in a collegiate athletics communications office
  • Experience with NCAA statistical reporting systems
  • Experience with StatCrew/Genius software
