Job Summary

Essential Duties Summary

  • Plans, implements, manages and evaluates all fitness/wellness programs to ensure compliance with the Student Services and University objectives.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of a comprehensive fitness/wellness program.
  • Plans and conducts fitness/wellness activities related, but not limited to, group exercise programs, fitness training, and nutritional counseling.
  • Designs, implements and evaluates wellness programs for the Recreation Center via interface with internal and external organizations and promotes campus-wide/community participation in program activities.
  • Makes recommendations and/or arranges the purchase of inventory and fitness equipment.
  • Makes arrangement for repairs and servicing of equipment, as needed.
  • Provides for the training and /or resources for training, certifications and continuing education for all Rec Center staff in a manner that keep the university in stride with the current national, regional and local trends of the fitness/wellness industry.
  • Maintains statistical information of program participants and conduct regular assessments of fitness program.
  • Coordinates the recruitment, training, scheduling and evaluation of all fitness personnel. Participates in the annual evaluation of all staff with program implementation and management.
  • Maintains awareness and ensures compliance with all University and Recreation Center rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Perform other jobs-related duties as required.


Education

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Physical Education, Recreation Administration, Exercise Science, Health Education, and Sports Science or a related field, from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Some upper level college coursework in Kinesiology, nutrition or related area preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  •    Knowledge of fitness and wellness techniques.
  •    Microsoft Office Suite and software sufficient to function in a technology-based environment.

Skill in:

  •    Strong verbal and written, and interpersonal communication.
  •    Strong customer service skills, communication skills.
  •    Use personal computers and Microsoft Office software.

Ability to:

  •    Ability to enforce policies and rules.

Work Experience

  • Requires one year of related experience.
