Job Summary


Position Overview
The Regional Events Manager will be responsible for managing USA Fencing’s regional tournaments along with assisting the National Events Manager with the North American Cup series.  The position will report to the Senior Events Manager and will involve frequent interaction with National Office staff members, USA Fencing members, tournament organizers, and contractors.

 Primary Duties
Regional Events (70%)
· Lead bid process from receiving, reviewing, awarding and creating regional events
· Answer operational questions and resolve issues concerning regional and divisional tournaments
· Act as main point of contact for all regions and divisions regarding tournaments 
· Serve as the National Office point of contact for regional tournament system
· Ensure regional tournaments are conducted according to USA Fencing regulations
· Create, send and compile responses for post-event surveys
· Responsible for updating tournament information on website 
 National Events (30%)
· Serve as primary contact in the National Office on events inquiries including registration, qualification paths and withdrawals 
· Manage hotel room lists for staff, contractors and volunteers at national and international tournaments
· Create, track and maintain records regarding payment of tournament officials 
· Other duties as assigned

 Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in business or sports management and 2-4 years of experience in event management preferred
· Ability to provide superior customer service in potentially high stress situations
· Strong analytical skills are required; must have the ability to collect and analyze information, problem-solve and make decisions.
· Ability to organize, prioritize tasks and projects and multi-task, while working independently and in team situations involving fellow staff members and relevant volunteer committees. 
· Professional experience effectively managing contractors, volunteers, etc.
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others in both office and tournament-based settings. 
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and website content management systems required.
· Ability to maintain confidential or sensitive information.
· Experience with the sport of fencing is ideal, but not required.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weeknights and weekends as needed.
· Required travel includes 2-4 events annually.
