Job Summary

• The individual in this position will be an integral contributor to the finance and business operations and will have a broad range of responsibilities including all aspects of the monthly close, GL responsibilities, fulfilling the reporting requirements and developing process efficiencies.
• The person in this role will collaborate with other finance team members to produce monthly and quarterly financial reports and will be an instrumental player in creating annual budget, quarterly rolling forecast and year-end projections.
• The individual in this position must be a self-starter and possess great attention to detail, strong financial acumen, high aptitude for technology and financial systems and a strong desire and ability to work within a fast paced dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the month end close process and communicate with other departments to ensure all information requirements and reporting deadlines are met 
• Prepare, review, upload and post journal entries for league level and team level transactions
• Review balance sheet and bank account reconciliations
• Produce event profit and loss reports for all games
• Prepare/Review monthly tax filings
• Oversee financial settlements with individual stadium on a regular basis
• Administer expense reporting system
• Manage full cycle AP and ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner 
• Manage full cycle AR and ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
• Review monthly financial reports
• Prepare budget-to-actual variance analysis 
• Work cross-functionally with various departments to provide financial insights and relevant reporting 
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure all liabilities are properly accrued for 
• Conduct special research and projects for the general ledger as required 
• Watch for areas of improvement within our processes, make suggestions and implement process improvements 
• Coordinate and prepare annual budget and periodic forecasts
• Provide leadership support for ad hoc projects
• Perform other various duties as assigned by the head of finance

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
• Sports industry background a plus but not required
• Minimum 4 to 7 years’ experience working in an accounting related role
• Demonstrated experience with GL, journal entry preparation, monthly & annual close processes
• Knowledge of accounting principles/practices, internal controls, budget development, projections & variance analysis
• Ability to prepare, organize and analyze complex financial information
• Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner
• Ability to meet deadlines and issue financial information in a timely manner
• Ability to demonstrate flexibility with changing priorities
• Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and time manage workload
• Superior skills in Word and Excel
• Ability to work independently, be a supportive colleague and team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Experience with accounting software
