Job Summary

 
 
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:  
      Head Scout:
·        In person viewing and evaluation of pertinent birth years that are discussed and agreed upon with Director of Academy of Hockey 
·        Attendance of 7-10 out of footprint hockey events with purpose of in person viewing of players from pertinent birth years 
·        Schedule 8-10 in footprint viewings of pertinent birth year players/teams 
·        Build, manage and coordinate scouting process outlining player identities, transferable traits and developmental opportunities.  
·        Ownership and management of player lists per pertinent birth years 
·        Represent the brand at all hockey events 
·        Review quarterly player needs of all Academy related programming with Assistant Director, Head Development Coach and Development Coaches. 
 
      Development Coach:
·        Full commitment to staying on the cutting edge of hockey programs and innovations at all levels. 
·        Provide a high quality, organized on ice experience with command of the participants.
·        Assist in developing a structured approach to skill progression and development.
·        Adaptable coaching style with ability to facilitate to all levels of player talent.
·        Assess and review player skill sets and develop skill improvement programs and recommendations.
 

 


Minimum Qualifications for the position:            
·        A minimum of 5-7 years of hockey experience, driven from:
o   High level playing career (College/Junior Hockey or above); and/or
o   Coaching career (Youth to Professional).  
§  Youth coach – highest level coaching certifications/accreditations preferred                  
(USA Hockey, Hockey Canada, etc.)
·        A proven ability to develop hockey skill development strategies for youth level players/teams. 
·        Understanding and knowledge of hockey specific programs, i.e. SportsCode, FlexxCoach, Coach’s Eye. 
·        An ability to work independently and/or collaborate effectively as part of a team.
·        Full Time position with a steady workload including expectation to work weekend, evening, and holiday hours as needed during peak periods.
·        25% Travel Required
·        A minimum of 3-5 years scouting experience with a proven ability to identify projectable skill and player potential.

·        Well versed in Academy philosophy, culture and business  
·         Strong written and verbal communication skills.
