Middle School Math Teacher - Long-Term Substitute (Nov. 2020- June 2021)

Job Summary

The master teacher should bring energy and curriculum development skills to the math department by being able to teach math  effectively and passionately, particularly through a growth-mindset. Other responsibilities and necessary competencies include the following:

• Demonstrating a passion for math and its real-world applications
• Exhibiting excellent teaching skills that demonstrate best practice
• Willingness and ability to teach all levels of middle school math through geometry
• Teaching 5 classes, which may include varied levels
• Understanding the development of middle-school students and possessing a passion for working with this age group
• Connecting with students, challenging them, and shifting pedagogical practice to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Working with grade-level colleagues to plan and coordinate all content, activities, and grading for each class
• Advising 10-14 students and facilitating the “Lead from Here” curriculum; meeting with parents of advisees
• Interacting effectively with parents, colleagues, and members of the leadership team
• Participating in other aspects of the School community (i.e. athletics, committees)
• Technologically savvy as we are in a hybrid learning environment; students are in person and remote. 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Math or Math Education; MA or MEd highly desirable; previous teaching experience in an independent school setting preferred. Coaching a sport is highly desirable.
