Job Summary
Job Description
- Supports the Head Coach in the overall administration of the University's football program in compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations.
- Responsible for roster, development, playbook, practice plans, scouting reports, game plans, play calling, and coaching for the offense.
- Assist the Head Coach with:
- Organization and implementation of practice plans and game management.
- Scheduling league and non-league athletic contents and scrimmages.
- Scheduling all travel and lodging arrangements for the program.
- Decisions regarding program budget management.
- Selection and purchase of program equipment.
- Academic monitoring of student athletes during the academic year.
- Monitoring the injuries of student athletes.
- Retention of quality student-athletes.
- Recruitment of qualified student athletes (at least one quarter of the roster annually).
- Complete pre-season, in-season, and end-of-season reports, squad lists, travel expense reports, and travel forms as required.
- Supervise work study students.
- Contact potential recruits and enter recruitment information into admissions system.
- Complete all football applications.
- Assist in the organization and administration of fundraising activities in conjunction with the Director of the Maroon & Gold Athletic Association and the Touchdown Club.
- Attend University Open Houses.
- Develop and nurture alumni and community relations.
- Work cooperatively with other assistant coaches, the athletic training staff, the equipment manager, and program volunteers.
- Communicate with colleagues, employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner.
- Serve on University and Athletic Department committees, councils, workgroups or other designated bodies as assigned.
- Work day, night and evening hours.
- Travel up to 25% of the time.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Head Coach or the Director of Athletics.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's required; Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: At least 2 years of football coaching or relevant experience, preferably in the collegiate environment; collegiate playing experience strongly desired; fundraising experience desired.
- Knowledge of all NCAA rules and regulations and successful completion of NCAA Rules Test.
- Able to speak to small and large groups, communicate effectively with prospective students, parents, alumni, and community members.
- Certifications for AED, CPR, and First Aid.
- Able to use computers, telephones, and general office equipment, including proficiency in Banner, Argos, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Able to read, write and speak in English and communicate by telephone, email, letter, or in person.
- Able to sit, stand, kneel, squat, reach, push, pull, and use hands and fingers to manipulate office and athletic equipment.
- Able to travel outdoors to various parts of the campus.
- Able to lift 35 pounds.
