The New York Red Bulls are one of 26 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). RBNY, one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, have competed in the league since its founding in 1996. The Red Bulls play home matches at Red Bull Arena (RBA) in Harrison, New Jersey. The three-time MLS Supporters' Shield Winners are owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position requires a dynamic, self-motivated, organized, energetic and creative strength coach with a working experience in either collegiate, soccer academy, minor league and/or professional sports. This position represents one of the key functions within the New York Red Bulls franchise structure, to allow players to develop to their top conditioning and prepare them for the physical requirements of professional soccer. This position is full-time.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Required to perform the job)
- Develop and implement strength and conditioning programs to increase players’ performance and reduce injuries
- Monitor fitness and fatigue of the USL team
- Organize strength and fitness training sessions with players returning from injury.
- Test and evaluate players’ physical performance and create reports for coaches and players.
- Collaborate with strength and conditioning coaches for the first team and the Academy to streamline our training methods for a New York Red Bull player.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job.
- Possess an excellent knowledge of Excel
- Available to work varying schedules, weekends
- Strong communication skills, detail-oriented and have the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Well-organized, enthusiastic and focused goal-setter committed to the culture developed by the New York Red Bulls and Major League Soccer
EDUCATION
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in Exercise Science related field
- CSCS (NSCA) or SCCC (CSCCa) Certification
Preferred:
- Master’s in Exercise Science related field
EXPERIENCE
- Candidate should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a strength and conditioning coach in a college, academy or professional setting.
- Experience leading sport science initiatives such as GPS, heart rate monitoring, RPEs etc.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS
- Constantly remain upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Constantly move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- Frequently raise objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position to-position; requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
- Constantly express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Constantly perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, have the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discriminations in sound.
Due to the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, the employee may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the company.
