Database Architect Details

We are looking for a modern-day database guru who can support large, existing SQL Server databases used for enterprise .NET applications. In addition to your positive attitude and leaving your ego at the door, you possess some knowledge of NoSQL databases and application caching layers. You will provide leadership, strategy, and innovation for production data architecture and management, utilizing relational and emerging database technologies. You will interact directly with the product management team to understand business and technology objectives and drive solutions that effectively meet the needs of the company. You will collaborate with support and data science teams to design, implement and continuously improve database-driven solutions. You will also own primary responsibility for designing the highly scalable and robust database systems along with monitoring and troubleshooting the key health parameters.





Responsibilities

Architect all new database solutions (tables, procs, indexes, functions, views, etc) and maintain existing enterprise database solutions
Work in an agile sprint environment and deliver high performing, highly scalable solutions
Release management during sprint process keep dev, staging, and production DBs in sync
Plans and implements Database backup and recovery with tested recoverability
Implement robust change control and configuration management policies
Capacity planning & system-level architecture in accordance with business projected volumes and infrastructure capacity
OS/Storage/DB configuration and optimization
Database security checks and audits
General database health checks, monitoring, and Database refreshes
Physical data model/architecture, DDL generation, and maintenance
DB server migrations and decommissioning
Database creation, configuration, and upgrading
Lead troubleshooting and recovery as part of incident response.
Database tuning (proactive and reactive)
Maintain and revise DB documentation as needed
Disaster recovery/failover services
Work with application dev teams as apps Dba to optimize DB performance (SQL query, reconfig etc.)
Manage offshore SQL devs
Ensure availability of all databases
Manage database users and security/access control
Contribute significant, new and innovative ideas tell us what we don't know!
Maintain technical currency in database and technology trend through research/education and personal development



Qualifications

Minimum 10 years on SQL database design and administration experience (5 years on SQL Server)
Minimum 5 years database architecture experience
Understanding of SQL Server versions 2005 and beyond
Proven expertise developing logical and physical data models and designs based on business requirements
Experience in architecting, optimizing, maintaining large enterprise databases and applications.
Expert Knowledge of SQL (Query) tuning
Experience with data pipelines and ETL techniques
Experience with Data Warehouse design, ETL (Extraction, Transformation & Load), architecting efficient software designs for .NET platform
Working knowledge of NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB and Cassandra
Experience with big data analytics technologies
Some AWS RDS experience helpful but not required
Experience with ETL and BI Tools (SQL Server SSIS, Mode Analytics)
Passion for about continuous learning, experimenting, applying and contributing towards cutting edge open source Big Data technologies and software paradigms
Excellent oral and written communication skills
