Swim Instructor (Staff Wage/Student Wage)

Job Summary

The Department of Intramural-Recreational Sports is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Swim Instructor (part-time, wage position). Swim instructors work at both the Aquatic & Fitness Center and the North Grounds Recreation Center. Applicants must be self-motivated and have a desire to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities:

• Identify key class management principles, elements and strategies for planning, preparing and conducting safe swim lessons.
• Observe swimming, headfirst entry and diving skills and accurately classify them and suggest appropriate interventions to improve them.
• Modify teaching to meet unexpected challenges including dealing with participants who misbehave.
• Demonstrate the ability to accommodate participants with disabilities and other health conditions.
