About the Department

The Finance Department’s mission is focused on partnering with NYRR operating functions to drive optimal decision making and operating performance by providing accounting direction, financial insight and analysis while serving as the financial stewards of the organization.  The Finance department consists of Financial Planning & Analysis and Accounting and covers all aspects of Finance including safeguarding and growing the company’s assets, reporting and forecasting performance, including monthly updates to Senior Leadership and preparing Quarterly Updates to the Board, preparation of the annual budget, establishing, and maintaining a functioning set of financial policies, ensuring compliance to audit and generally accepted accounting principles and ethical standards.

About the Position

Reporting to the Director, FP&A, this position will be responsible for i) preparation of budget/forecast reports and analytics collaborating with specific functions within the organization, ii) assist the Director in preparing the consolidated financial results and iii) preparation of ad hoc financial analysis.  This requires experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and return on investment calculations. This role must be able to apply basic accounting principles to analyze and forecast financial information and review and interpret financial reports.  Duties are outlined below.

Job Responsibilities (primary and secondary duties):

• Support Director with the consolidation of organization wide budget and forecast and the preparation of monthly and year-end financial reports for Senior Leadership team
• Support Director in preparing quarterly Board materials, including financial reports, cashflow projections, graphs and overall narratives.
• Engage with 1-2 support functions to analyze monthly results, develop relevant and accurate forecast each month and prepare their annual budget.
• Review and analyze actual results compared to forecast and prepare variance analysis to highlight performance trends and proactively identify financial risks/opportunities.
• Support Director in partnering with specific business functions to analyze monthly results, develop relevant and accurate forecast each month and prepare their annual budget.
• Assist in preparing cash flow projections and improving the overall process to ensure accurate reporting
• Partner with finance leads to close out each month-end, year-end close and provide assistance in the audit
• Other ad hoc financial supports and analysis
• Apply a continuous Improvement mindset to identify gaps/inefficiencies in current processes, and help develop plans for improvements

Job Requirements:

Experience:

• 4+ years of Financial Planning and Analysis experience
• Prior experience with budgeting/forecasting and base level accounting principles
• Prior experience in consolidation of budgets and preparation of board reports
• Organized, with demonstrated experience in prioritizing multiple projects to completion

Education & Certifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or economics required MBA, Masters in Finance or CPA a plus

Skills and Attributes:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with focused attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal, communication skill and highly collaborative mindset
• Advanced competency in Microsoft Office, experience with Oracle Netsuite and Adaptive Insights is a plus
• Knowledge and application of basic GAAP
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
