Job Summary

 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Perform as Certified Athletic Trainer in managing the work-related health care of players. Such health care includes, but is not limited to: first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, developing rehabilitation and prevention programs, as well as conducting rehabilitation and making medical referrals.

  • Assist in the engagement, development, and management of the Republic FC medical training staff, including, if and as applicable, student athletic trainers and massage school students.

  • Work in conjunction with the Club’s strength coach to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition and conditioning programs customized to meet individual needs.

  • Order, maintain and inventory supplies and clinical equipment.

  • Keep training room and clinic area safe, clean and organized.

  • Establish and maintain positive training room culture.

  • Incorporate new methods and techniques arising from the ever-changing field of sports medicine.

  • Maintain a complete, accurate, and up to date roster of player health and participation records in the League-provided electronic medical record system.

  • Electronically document first report of injury, player treatments, and return to play dates for various purposes (e.g. workers compensation claims, research).

  • Communicate on a regular basis with the technical staff and Team Physicians regarding injury reports and updates.

  • Initiate and collaborate internally on insurance/worker’s compensation claims for players.

  • Comply with all USL medical policies, protocol, and operations manual, as well as with all applicable employment policies and laws.

  • Coordinate and schedule physical examinations and medical referrals for players to determine their ability to compete.

  • Provide medical assistance to the Team Physicians.

  • Under the direction of the supervising Team Physician, assist with the organization and maintenance of applicable pharmaceutical inventory and records.

  • Supervise any assistant trainers and other medical staff, if and as applicable.

  • Demonstrate and apply interpersonal skills required to work effectively with players, coaches, other team personnel and USL staff.

  • Counsel players regarding dietary needs, nutritional supplements and League/FIFA banned substances.

  • Participate in community service/educational programs related to sports medicine.

  • Participate in activities/meetings/programs as required by USL.

  • Such other duties, activities, and roles related to the application and/or administration of sports medicine operations for the Club, its playing squads, and/or the Academy as the Employer from time to time may designate in its sole and absolute discretion. 

 
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Kinesiology or a related field. 

  • Current certification through the Board of Certification (BOC).

  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer in a sports environment, preferably with soccer.

  • Experience using injury-tracking software.

  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Experience with purchasing, inventory, and maintaining supplies and clinical equipment.

  • Valid driver’s license/reliable transportation required.

  • Flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, as well as team travel.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to perform under high-pressure situations, with the ability to adapt.
