Job Summary


Job Description:

  • Provides for and supervise the Sports Medicine services for the athletic department as directed by the Team Physician, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as necessary.

  • Ensures compliance with all college, conference and NCAA rules and regulations related to medical care for student-athletes.

  • Supervise the scheduling of all student-athletes for physical examinations, medical referrals, and determine a student-athlete’s ability to practice and/or compete in consultation with the team physician.

  • Communicates with coaches regarding the injury status of student-athletes.

  • Develops an annual operating budget and oversee the purchasing of training room supplies and equipment.

  • Oversee, develop, mentors the sports medicine student workers.

  • Assist in developing an annual operating budget and overseeing the purchasing of training room supplies and equipment.

  • Provide coverage for home athletic events and post season games as assigned

  • Provide coverage for team practices as assigned.

  • Maintain up-to-date medical records for each student-athlete


Responsibilities: NCAA Compliance officer.


  • Administers compliance with NCAA, Skyline Conference and College of Mount Saint Vincent rules and regulations

  • Administers a rules education program for athletic department coaches and staff

  • Provides oversight of all aspects of recruiting, eligibility and conduct rules

  • Interprets NCAA rules and regulations

  • Pursues waivers and appeals with the NCAA and Skyline Conference

  • Collects data for submission of conference and NCAA forms and reports


QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:


  • Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization.

  • Current CPR / AED certification

  • Three to five years of directly related professional experience

  • Experience at an NCAA Division lll institution (preferred).

  • Knowledge of NCAA and NATA rules/guidelines

  • Must be certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)

  • Ability to develop long and short-term plans for area of responsibility

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees, students, and the public

  • Evening and weekend hours essential

  • Successful candidate must have a valid driver's license with proven driving record in good standing

  • Significant athletic training experience in a college setting a plus
