Job Summary
Overview
The Coordinator, Benefits is responsible for the administration of employee benefits for both Players and the League Office staff.
Responsibilities
- Handle all benefit inquiries including providing an overview of the plan coverage, assist with claims processing and resolve benefit related issues
- Manage benefits administration for designated MLS team rosters including communicating general benefits information handling enrollment/trades/termination in a timely manner, and assisting players with benefits questions and issues that arise
- Maintain relationships with Team Administrators/Trainers to ensure timely enrollment of player benefits and overall player satisfaction with the benefit plans
- Confidentially administer employee data transactions including, but not limited to new hires, status changes, terminations, and leaves of absence administration in HCM and relevant benefit vendor systems
- Manage existing benefit vendor relations to ensure we are providing the best benefit services
- Manage onsite wellness programs (flu shots, annual physicals, wellness fair, etc.) for staff
- Timely reconcile and process payment of benefit related monthly invoices
- Liaise with the Payroll department to ensure benefit deductions are calculated and handled accurately
- Research and implement new benefit programs to offer to staff and players
- Conduct the benefits portion of the new hire orientations
- Assist with the administration of our Human Capital Management system, which includes handling data entry, running reports, conducting audits, and assisting with the maintenance and upgrades of the system
- Assist with planning and executing corporate outings, volunteer events and work celebrations
- Ensure company is compliant with all new federal, state and local regulations
- Work on ad-hoc Human Resources projects
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3+ years of experience
- Experience with benefit plans, benefit enrollment and processing
- Experience working with a Human Capital Management system; prior experience with Workday would be a plus
- Detail-oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry
- Ability to manage highly confidential material
- Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail
- High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Customer service oriented
Desired Skills
- Experience with benefit enrollment sites
- Experience with Canadian Benefits
- Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency)
