Location: Washington, D.C.

Position Type: Regular - Full-Time

Position Summary:

Audio Editor to coordinate feeds, editing of sports sound and operation of equipment. Work will include evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Edit live interviews, identify and pull relevant soundbytes for news updates.
  • Edit live sports games, identify and pull relevant highlights for news updates.
  • Record and edit lives press conferences and teleconferences.
  • Edit games for replay.
  • Be the liaison between the newsroom and engineering when we have equipment issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned including opening/closing responsibilities and troubleshooting and recitfication of issues in Newsroom.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience.
  • 1 year experience with sound editing and sports newsroom operation in a fast-paced news gathering atmosphere.

Requirements and General Skills:

  • Deep understanding of sports news interviews, sports talent across all major sports.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and be organized.
  • Ability to project professionalism over the phone and in person.
  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects.
  • Strong interest in current events relating to sports.
  • Spelling, grammar, proofreading and editing skills.
  • Good public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to "internal client" and customer service principles.
  • Comfortable working with talent, artists and high profile individuals.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with Digital Editing.
  • Experience with Dalet, Prophet, Cool Edit and Adobe Audition a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
