Summary:
The USA Triathlon (USAT) Legal internship is a unique and exciting opportunity to learn about the practice of law from an in-house perspective with a National Governing Body. The legal intern will report directly to our Senior Counsel. During the semester, the USAT intern will be afforded the opportunity to develop and apply skills in various areas including, for example, contract review, research, policy drafting and more.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Assist with review of contracts
2. Research legal questions
3. Compile legal information and referral sources
4. Prepare and audit policies
5. Manage case files
6. Perform administrative duties such as filing and copying
7. Assist with preparation for presentations
Qualifications:
· Educational Requirements: Currently attending law school or pursuing a degree in pre-law.
· Detail oriented mindset
· Excellent research and writing skills
· Interpersonal skills
· Excellent communication skills
· Ability to prioritize based on opportunities and effectively multitask
· Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point & Outlook
· Passion for sport and the Ideals of the Olympic Movement
· Familiarity with Triathlon preferred but not required
· Be able to participate in task that require physical activity (must be able to life 50 lbs).
· Must be eligible to work in the USA
Anticipated Work Schedule and Other Job Specifications:
· Anticipated Start Date – Spring 2020
· Anticipated Duration – End of Summer 2020
· Status – Part-Time
· Hours Per Week – Flexible depending on school schedule
· Internship available for college credit
