Team President/Chief Revenue Officer Job Description The San Diego Aviators and World TeamTennis: The San Diego Aviators will hire a Team President/Chief Revenue Officer to lead and manage all aspects of this San Diego sports franchise. The Aviators are one of eight teams that compete in the World TeamTennis (WTT) League. WTT showcases the best in professional tennis with an innovative team format co-founded by Billie Jean King in the 1970s. Recognized as the leader in professional team tennis competition, WTT features many of the world’s best players competing annually for the King Trophy. Owned by Fred Luddy, the San Diego Aviators have played in San Diego (currently at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad) since 2014. The WTT season runs for 3 weeks in mid July to early August each year, and look to engage fans year round by hosting various pre- and post-season events. Each team drafts their team each spring selecting top ATP and WTA players from a pool of players assembled by WTT. Position Summary: The Aviators Team President will be responsible for developing and implementing a business strategy for the team that will increase revenue and grow the Aviators fan base. The selected candidate will be responsible for the success of ticket sales, sponsorship sales, marketing, financial management, stadium operations, players services, and human resources with a goal of increasing revenue and franchise value. Creating a great product and unique fan experience to fill every seat, every night should be your objective. Reporting to the Aviators Board of Directors, the selected hire must have excellent leadership and sales skills, and be able to develop and maintain a positive working and team environment. Position Responsibilities: • Develop an annual business plan, including sponsorship and ticket sales revenue targets and create and manage a budget and supporting personnel to meet or beat those goals. • Develop and manage a detailed revenue plan for both ticket sales and sponsorship, including forecasting and monitoring revenue targets. • Develop and execute a cohesive annual marketing campaign across all media channels to attract all types of fans from tennis enthusiasts to corporations. • Develop a deep understanding of the Aviators product including WTT playing format, draft process, players and match day events • Identify event participation opportunities and create Aviator branded events throughout the year to maintain and grow the Aviators fan base with an eye on additional revenue opportunities outside the summer season. • Build relationships in the community and with local government, businesses and tennis clubs to position the Aviators as a community asset and the matches as the place to be in the summer. • Responsible for stadium selection including seating and VIP ticket options and ensuring every fan has a great experience each night. • Recruit and provide leadership to personnel across all functions to ensure organizational and personal goals are met • Manage all business operations including financial management, P&L reporting, and supporting systems selection • Communicates weekly, monthly and quarterly status reports and forecasts to the Board • Represent the Aviators at all WTT meetings Background and Skills: • 5+ years in a sports or entertainment leadership role. Working in San Diego market a huge plus. • Demonstrated success in building and growing a business. • Ability to develop business plans and lead a team to execute and carry accountability to achieve such plans • Strong sales skills with a track record of achieving revenue targets • Strong operational, financial, marketing and communication skills • Positive leadership style cultivating growth and learning in the organization • Strong community and corporate partnership-building capabilities • Knowledge and use of QuickBooks, ADP Payroll Processing, and Sales Tax Filing. • Knowledge of Ticketing Systems a plus.
