Associate Athletics Director, Sport Administration & Varsity Sports


Sport Supervision

  • Organizes and administers assigned athletic programs consistent with the mission and values of the department and university, including development of action plans, strategic goal setting, performance management, and professional development.
  • Conducts annual performance evaluations of programs and coaches and oversees budgets for all assigned programs.
  • Works with coaches to plan, monitor, and reconcile program budgets, reviewing and monitoring monthly budget reports throughout the year.
  • Works with coaches to develop future schedules and assists in the coordination of and approval of team and staff travel.
  • Reviews annual aid distributions and develops 4-5 year aid plans, ensuring that accurate aid plans are on file with the Office of Compliance.
  • Assists coach in the management of roster, ensuring that staff is notifying Compliance, Sport Medicine, Media Relations, and other relevant departments on roster changes.
  • Regularly meets with athletic training staff to ensure student-athlete needs are met including health insurance, athletic, and training/physical therapy.
  • Monitors academic progress of the team, making sure issues are surfaced to appropriate staff and administrators before issues become major.
  • Assists coach in the management of positive and healthy relationships in the Office of Admissions and ensures that coach/program is adhering to appropriate admissions protocols.
  • Provides regular updates to AD/senior staff, especially issues related to the health, safety, and welfare of student-athletes and/or issues that could be potentially volatile in nature.

Supervision, Professional Development, and Committees

  • Assists the Associate Director for Student-Athlete Leadership and Development in the Academic Unit.
  • Plans, develops, and implements professional development programming for head and assistant coaches.
  • Works to identify current trends and new technologies in intercollegiate athletic and develops methods to educate coaches and staff.
  • Serves on NCAA, BIG EAST Conference, University, and department committees as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the administration of intercollegiate sport programs including supervision of coaches and budget development or coaching at an NCAA participating athletics department
  • Knowledge and experience in NCAA rules and compliance
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience in creating and implementing personal and professional development opportunities for coaches and student-athletes
