The Chicago Red Stars, a part of the National Women’s Soccer League, represent the pinnacle of women’s professional soccer in Chicago, the 3rd largest market in the United States.  The Red Stars have reached the NWSL playoffs for 5 consecutive years and have been building a strong base of loyal supporters and season ticket holders throughout their 12-year existence.  Playing at SeatGeek Stadium, a soccer-specific MLS stadium, fans enjoy a professional atmosphere rivaled by few US clubs.
 
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Chicago Red Stars are seeking a Sales Manager to join our experienced sales team. The Sales Manager, while working collaboratively with our entire organization, will lead a team of Account Executives and will oversee the organization and development of our sales objectives and execution. The Sales Manager will also have the responsibility to oversee weekly, monthly, and yearly ticket reports in a timely fashion. This position will be responsible for selling and maintaining season tickets and partial ticket plans to groups, companies, and individuals.  Sales Manager will also have ultimate responsibility for maintaining and growing long-term relationships with key customers including direct selling.
 
Works with: CEO, and Department Heads (Operations, Sponsorship, Marketing, Communications, Merchandise) to achieve objectives.
  
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote unique, forward thinking sales culture.

  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with all members of sales staff; establish and communicate clear sales revenue goals and follow up with appropriate feedback and direction for development.  

  • Lead, motivate, develop, coach and retain sales staff for future succession and opportunity within the Chicago Red Stars organization. This includes not just teaching sales techniques and processes, but how to communicate and run a face to face appointment.

  • On-going solicitation of corporations and group organizations to create new business.

  • Assist in the creation and implementation of theme nights and interest group nights.

  • Lead the creation, planning, communication, and implementation of special ticket plans, projects, promotions and programs, including annual season ticket plans.

  • Grow ticket revenue year over year; lead sales staff to surpass sales goal established mutually by sales group and CEO.

  • Create and implement sales strategy to increase revenue through season memberships, partial plans and group sales for the Chicago Red Stars.

  • Monitor, manage and evaluate sales staff performance on an ongoing basis, including annual review for all team members.

  • Establish goals, incentives, and commission programs for sales staff.

  • Create an onboarding plan for the sales staff. This will include an extensive training course led by the Sales Manager. 

  • Interview and provide continued guidance to sales interns.

  • Work with all departments to track and fulfill ticketing needs; monitor and report on the sales process and results to ownership.

  • Perform various game day duties.

  • Represent Chicago Red Stars and its related affiliates in a professional manner at all times.

  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of four (4) years sales experience with experience managing representatives and interns, preferably in the sports or entertainment industries

  • Experience with SeatGeek SRO is preferred but not required

  • Strong work ethic, open to learning, and enthusiastic attitude

  • Excellent communication & organization skills, both oral and written

  • Good at collaborating with others in a close work environment

  • Excellent, proven cold calling skills

  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Strong teaching, motivating and development skills

  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and multi-task

  • Demonstrate a consistent, successful track record in hitting ticket sales goals

  • Proficient in Microsoft 365

  • Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet company vehicle driving standards
