Job Summary

Summary:

The Athletic Trainer will assist the Head Athletic Trainer in all aspects of the health care of the intercollegiate student-athletes for the University Athletic department. Reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer, the Athletic Trainer will assist with organizational and administrative duties as assigned, as well as supervise student workers in the Athletic Training room. 


Education/Experience:

• Bachelors degree in athletic training with an equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters degree preferred. Two years experience working with intercollegiate athletics desired.
• Valid driver license with good driving record required; must be insurable.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability:

• NATA-BOC Certification, eligibility for Maryland State license, CPR, First Aid, and AED certified
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications and computer use.
• Knowledge and skills in the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries incurred from participation in competitive athletics.
• Knowledge and ability to manage budgets and inventory for an Athletic Training Department.
• Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills both orally and in writing.
• Basic knowledge of NCAA rules and guidelines.
• Ability to travel with teams as needed.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Essential Functions:

• Work in cooperation with the Head Athletic Trainer in all aspects of the health care of the student-athletes, such as evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries incurred by the intercollegiate student-athletes
• Manage all athletic training room functions in the absence of the Head Athletic Trainer, and Team Physician
• Maintain work schedule in the athletic training room in cooperation with and as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer
• Administer proper first aid to student-athletes on the field and in the athletic training room
• Travel as needed with intercollegiate athletic teams
