Job Summary

 

JOB SUMMARY:

This university invites applications for the position of Graduate Assistant Coach for Strength and Conditioning to assist the head coach to develop, promote and supervise all facets of the Strength and Conditioning program; assist the head coach to develop and execute strategies for the physical preparedness of student-athletes for highly visible regional and national competition; assist the head coach to organize and direct all aspects of the Strength and Conditioning programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to all applicable NCAA and conference compliance rules and regulations. 
  • Ensuring that all relevant institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations are followed including, but not limited to player eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, scheduling and academic progress.
  • Abides by NCAA Bylaws 10.1 and 11.1 regarding ethical conduct and the responsibility to positively contribute to a campus culture of NCAA rules compliance. 
  • Responsible for the program design, organization, and implementation of Strength and Conditioning activities as assigned by Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. 
  • Establishing and maintaining professional interdepartmental relationships within intercollegiate athletics and academic programs. 
  • Assist in directing and managing recruiting efforts as solicited by members of respective sport assignments.
  • Assist in designing and implementing off season training programs for student-athletes.
  • Assist in all fundraising needs for the department.
  • Maintain appropriate communications with student-athletes.
  • Assist with collaborating and maintaining continuing education programs. 
  • Perform related and other duties as assigned by Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Nutrition, or similar field.
  • One semester of collegiate strength and conditioning experience in an undergraduate internship or professional internship capacity.
  • CSCS certification by the National Strength and conditioning association upon hiring or attainment within first year of employment.
  • Individuals must be CPR, AED, and First Aid Certified.
  • Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends.
  • Experience and ability to positively interact with diverse student populations and groups.
