Job Summary

Job Summary:

Responsible for the prevention, recognition, evaluation, and immediate care of athletic injuries to wheelchair basketball student-athletes.

Essential Duties:

Medical coverage and supervision of Men's and Women's intercollegiate wheelchair basketball team practices and games home and away which entails prevention and care of athletic injuries for these athletes. Injury assessment and therapeutic treatment and rehabilitation of injuries, medical and mental health conditions. Communicating with team physicians, coaching staff, and administrative personnel about athletic injuries, illness, and modification of participation status. Maintain accurate records of student athlete medical histories, injury reports, and treatments/rehabilitation. Be knowledgeable of and assure compliance with all applicable National Wheelchair Basketball Association and The University of Texas at Arlington regulations, policies, and procedures. Knowledge and expertise in sports injuries and medical conditions and the treatment and rehabilitation in these injuries especially in adapted sports. First aid, CPR and AED trained, able to properly assess and treat injuries.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in related field, Two (2) years of Athletic Training or the equivalent experience. State of Texas licensure (LAT). NATA-BOC certification (ATC).

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree. Two (2) years of Athletic Training Experience with Adapted Sports.
