Background: The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) is a player-run international not-for-profit organization. There are currently nine staff members based at the international headquarters in Appling, Georgia, USA, and fifteen additional staff members who work remotely. The PDGA, with over 97,000 active members and hundreds of volunteers, is the governing body for the sport of disc golf, and sanctions over 6,400 competitive events for men and women of every skill level from novice to professional. Position Summary:
The Professional Disc Golf Association seeks a highly organized leader and strategic thinker to serve in this new director-level position within the PDGA. The successful candidate must be a dynamic leader with demonstrated ability to implement innovative strategies which can promote PDGA Majors and premier events and must be able to exercise independent judgment in completing both long and short-term missions over a wide range of programs. This newly established directorate is a key component in managing the highest level of disc golf competition and spectator experience at PDGA Majors around the world, including four World Championships. The Director will oversee and supervise the fulltime PDGA Event Operations & Logistics staff, PDGA Marshals, Professional Touring Players Committee, Majors Committee, and the various Event Directors/Local Organizing Committees who host the PDGA’s most prestigious events.
Position responsibilities:
· Oversees the development, communications, planning, scheduling, and execution of all Majors, Elite Series, and other premier professional and amateur competitive events; this includes close coordination with the Disc Golf Pro Tour (DGPT) and PDGA Euro Tour
· Establishes competitive standards and requirements for Majors and premier events in conjunction with appropriate PDGA Staff and committees
· Manages the event bid process for Majors and other PDGA owned events
· In coordination with the PDGA Media and Marketing team:
o Acquires sponsors and partners for Majors and premier events
o Creates and promotes engaging content through various entertainment and social media platforms
o Oversees and manages the procurement of all on-site PDGA event assets
· Oversees and manages detailed site visits before awarding bids, and leading up to events, to ensure compliance with PDGA competitive requirements and standards
· Works closely with PDGA committees and various key stakeholders to solicit feedback on improving existing events, as well as developing proposals for the creation of new premier PDGA events
· Serves as the event lead and on-site face and voice of the PDGA at Majors and premier events
· Develops and manages the operational budget for Majors and premier events
· Supervises and trains subordinate staff and volunteers
· Duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Desirable Qualifications:
· Management level experience with a non-profit, sports-related organization
· A university or equivalent degree in business administration, non-profit sector management, sports management, or a related field
· Experience in or demonstrated success in:
o Knowledge of disc golf, the PDGA, its membership, tournament recording and reporting features, rules and competition guidelines, and tournament/tour structure
o Experience in organizing and managing PDGA sanctioned disc golf events; A-Tier and above is an asset
o Large event management
o Sports administration
o Marketing & Media
o Business presentations
Other requirements:
• Position is open to both local and remote employees
• Successful candidate will be required to work flexible hours and weekends
• Expenses-paid travel will be required, including international travel
• Must be eligible to work in the US and have a valid Driver License for driving within the US
Compensation:
• A full-time, salaried position starting at USD $65,000/year commensurate with experience and qualifications
