Department Description

Under close supervision by the Director of Athletic Training Services or the Athletic Trainers on staff, work as a certified athletic trainer fellow with a team of seven certified athletic trainers in a NCAA D-I athletic program composed of 23 sports and 650 student athletes. Team assignments to be determined by the Director of Athletic Training Services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Move and lift injured athletes. Lift supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

   
• Work irregular shifts, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
   
• Work occasional varied lunch hours.
   
• Work overtime, occasional weekend on short notice.
   
• Travel as needed. Overnight travel required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

   
• Current certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification or must be certified by May of 2021.
   
• CPR/AED certification.
   
• Collegiate athletic training experience.

Preferred

   
• Ability to assist in the supervision, management, and education of student athletic training interns in the athletic training room setting.
   
• Ability to design and administer post injury, pre-op and post-op rehabilitation programs.
   
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
   
• Ability and initiative to learn and apply athletic training skills within the UC Davis program parameters.
   
• Experience teaching lecture and symposium style classes to general student body.
   
• Experience traveling with athletic teams.
