Job Summary

PAY RATE/STATUS: $16.00-$20.00 per hour DOE / Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Under the direction of the Barracuda Swim Team Head Coach and the Assistant Director of Sports, Fitness & Aquatics, the Barracuda Assistant Coach assists in developing, organizing and implementing the JCC Barracuda Swim Team. Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for swim team participants in accordance with JCC policies and procedures and creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement.


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Current certificates required: American Red Cross CPR/AED, American Red Cross Coaches Safety Training or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 1 year coaching experience
  • Ability to communicate in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Ability to be punctual to all scheduled shifts.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of sound competitive swimming skills, and the ability to implement and teach these skills in a positive, healthy manner.


  • Frequently required to stand, walk, swim, sit, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate pool maintenance equipment, hand and power tools.
  • Frequently bending at the waist, kneeling, crouching, or reaching above the head to store or retrieve materials.
  • Regularly required to communicate.
  • Frequently lifting and carrying equipment or materials.
  • Ability to lift and pull 30-50 lbs. (eg pool covers)
  • Ability to perform all American Red Cross Lifeguarding skills and CPR/AED.
  • Ability to successfully perform the lifeguard skills checklist on a quarterly basis.
