Marketing and Fan Engagement Graduate Intern

Grand Valley State University Athletics

 

The GVSU Athletic Department is searching for a qualified, enthusiastic, creative, and driven candidate to serve as a Marketing and Fan Engagement Graduate Intern. This position will receive a tuition waiver upon acceptance into graduate school for up to 9 credits (6 minimum) in the fall and winter semester, and an annual stipend (10 months). It is expected that the selected candidate would hold the position for two years while completing their master’s degree. Start date for this position is August 2nd, 2021 with a strong preference of earlier arrival that will be discussed upon job offer.

 

Responsibilities:

       Support of the graphic design needs of the department, including the creation and editing of templates, fliers, video board needs and other promotional materials

       Lead on video board production at football, basketball and other assigned sports

       Assist with fan engagement and event presentation efforts for Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Women’s Soccer and other sports as necessary

       Utilize data analytics and social media trends to be strategic in marketing efforts

       Oversight of the mascot Louie the Laker – includes scheduling appearances, assisting in oversight of student staff, and creating campus student marketing opportunities

       Develop and implement comprehensive marketing, fan engagement, and event presentation plans for assigned sport programs

       Other duties as assigned to continue to elevate the department’s mission and goals

 

Requirements:

       Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Sport Management, Graphic Design or related field

       Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite

       Demonstrated experience in videography and video production

       Proven success in student engagement and campus relation responsibilities

       Strong verbal, written communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment  

       Experience in an Athletic Department running video boards is strongly preferred, but not required

       Ability to work weekdays, nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary
