Job Summary

 

Summary/Objective

The Blue Wahoos production team is responsible for producing all 60 Blue Wahoos home games. A position on the Blue Wahoos Baseball Network crew offers valuable experience in live sports production. Camera operators will work with directors that have 10+ years of experience in sports. Every Blue Wahoos game is broadcast out to 5.5 million homes across the country on Cox Sports Network and locally on Blabtv. The Blue Wahoos are looking for production members who are passionate about camera work and live television. The position requires individuals to be open to critique, and have a skill set that meets broadcast standards. We need crew who thrive in a team environment and can work well with others. This position is ideal for those looking to gain experience in the world of sports production. The position is seasonal, generally limited to a maximum of 30 hours per week and does not include benefits other than pay ($10/hr). 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Operate broadcast camera for live production.

• Set up and calibrate broadcast cameras.

• Run and pull broadcast cables.

• Operate cg or font machines.

• Load or organize content into production equipment.

• Assist in the shooting of broadcast open and interviews.

• Clean and stow equipment.

• Participate in pregame and postgame meetings.

 

Requirements

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• High level of integrity, honesty, and commitment.

• Must be willing to smile, laugh and embrace a culture of positivity.

• Have at least 1 year of production experience, camera experience. (college is accepted)

• Foundational understanding of cameras (Iris, focus, white balance, and formats).

• Foundational understanding of composition (head room, lead room, rule of thirds).

• Familiarity with director nomenclature (cut, fade, ready, iris up).

• Open for professional feedback and composition critiques.

• Strong teamwork skills and ability to work well with others.

• Adhere to time management policies.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Ability to adapt to a fast pace live production environment.

• Lift 50lbs.
