Job Description

  • The Assistant Manager, under general direction, will assist the Athletic Facilities Manager in performing managerial work administering the daily operations and activities of the Athletics Complex facilities.
  • This will include working with the coaching staff members and other athletic administrative staff personnel, and in in the daily supervision of the students who work in the area of athletic facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides oversight of set-up, operation, and break-down of the departments facilities for athletic and non-athletic events as per the events calendar.
  • Will conduct daily facility reviews of selected facilities.
  • Will ensure timely, secure opening and closing of buildings within the Sports Complex Campus according to schedule, as well as security of buildings at all times.
  • Will enforce rules and regulations, and stop all unsafe actions.
  • Will manage Light schedule for all athletic facilities.
  • Manages facility space utilization (set-up, clean-up).
  • Will be on-site and available throughout selected athletic events to assist with operations.
  • Prepares and processes various repair work order requests and reviews them for job completion.
  • Will assist with asset inventory control ( locating, scanning and tagging of equipment, etc.).
  • Coordinates maintenance of all athletic facilities in conjunction with campus Custodial and Grounds services.
  • Monitors and assists in the preparation and long range planning activities.
  • Will assist in developing schedules, priorities, and standards for providing service during various events at, in and on Athletic facilities.
  • Will assist in planning, assigning and supervising the work of others.
  • Represents the department on committees and at meetings around the campuses.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field.
  • Four years of related experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry and Lock shop.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of - Computers and related software.

  • Ability to - Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and interest in sports and athletic operations.
  • Knowledge of Computers and related software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.
  • Familiarity with and ability to use various power tools.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and during holiday breaks.
