Job Summary
Rider University invites applications for an Assistant Director of Sports Communications. Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Communications, this individual will handle coverage of women’s basketball, field hockey, volleyball, swimming and diving, baseball, track and field/cross country and occasionally share in some responsibilities for wrestling and/or other sports. The successful candidate will: promote Rider Athletics; maintain, update and edit the athletics website gobroncs.com; update statistics using computerized software; write press releases for specific events including contests, events and awards; utilize social media to promote teams including creating video clips and graphics; and troubleshoot technology issues.
Qualified candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree along with at least two years of sports communications experience at a college or university or other athletics entity. A Master’s degree is preferred. Individual must also possess: working knowledge of and a willingness to comply with NCAA and conference rules; excellent written and oral communications skills; experience with website content management system software, Photoshop, video editing software and various statistics software (i.e. stat-crew); time management skills; knowledge of trends in sports communications and technology; strong knowledge of sports; strong computer, social media and internet skills; and the ability to meet strict deadlines. Must be willing to work nights and weekends.
