Job Summary
Position Summary
The Athletic Trainer’s primary responsibility is to manage the health care of participating student athletes. This includes, but is not limited to, first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, appropriate modalities, and prevention and rehabilitation protocols. This position also works directly with parents to assist with student medical referrals and medical issues. A full-time, staff position is scheduled to work on average 30-40 hours per week and is subject to being furloughed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Be present at all upper school and middle school athletic contests on campus—including some weekends and non-school days
- Evaluate and care for injured athletes; communicate and act as a liaison with parents, physicians, hospitals, and the School as indicated
- Implement the following, in cooperation with team physician(s) and local health care providers:
- Management and treatment of injured athletes
- Rehabilitation procedures
- Operation of therapeutic devices and equipment
- Application of braces, guards, tape and other devices
- Referrals to physicians, health services and hospitals
- Documentation of athletic training services
- Concussion management and treatment in compliance with CIF regulations and State Law
- Supervise athletic training room operations, including requisition and storage of supplies and equipment, maintaining an inventory
- Provide water at home facilities for all practices and games
- Prepare athletes for all competition including games and practices; taping, stretching, injury management, prevention, and prehab
- Develop and provide rehabilitation programs for injuries
- Direct parent, coach, and administration communication regarding all athletic concerns
- Counsel athletes and coaches on matters pertaining to promotion of healthful lifestyles
- Maintain and manage athletic records, treatment logs, rehabilitation plans, and private medical documents
- Serve as a liaison to the community on athletic health care matters
- Maintain accurate records of injuries and treatments and communicate with coaches on the status of the student-athletes
- Develop and maintain a budget for the athletic training program
- Coordinate the clearance of all athletes prior to their season start dates
