Job Description
This role will work closely with the men's basketball program to help student-athletes to tell their stories with authentic and creative voices. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the men's basketball social media channels and populating those channels with timely, engaging, creative content in order to connect fans with their favorite student-athletes. This person will help externally communicate the voice of the men's basketball program through social media content and platforms while also creating consistent branding. By forging strong relationships and embedding yourself within the program, you will discern the personalities and stories that set the Notre Dame student-athlete apart within the athletics landscape. As an expert in content creation and consumption behaviors, you will know how best to connect the stories your student-athletes are excited to help tell with the audience that craves their authentic voice.
This person will be a resource, empowering student-athletes to develop their personal brand during their time at Notre Dame by taking advantage of the opportunities that Fighting Irish Media has to leverage their stories. Through education, advice and outreach, student-athletes will be kept ahead of the curve in personal brand development. Creativity in managing platforms will prove paramount, while relationship management will also be critical as will building and maintain trust with your audience. This position is fundamental to maintaining the national prominence of the men's basketball program by positioning the program positively in the eyes of prospective student-athletes, student-athletes, coaches, and fans. By creating dynamic content, this position serves as the external voice and is responsible for working hand-in-hand with the media relations and PR contact to create a united front. This role will also coach student-athletes on how to prepare their brand for the next level, whether that be professional basketball or a professional career. This role will be trailblazing, giving Notre Dame student-athletes the best advantage for success after college.
Minimum Qualifications
The individual should be an experienced and outstanding communicator and have experience expanding the brand on social media, collaborating with student-athletes and programs on content creation, willingness to be trained and a proficiency in desktop publishing/video (InDesign & Photoshop). Experience in a collegiate and/or professional communications/content creation role required, including managing media and statistics.
This position will work nights and weekends during athletic seasons. Understanding of and compliance with NCAA, ACC, and ND rules and regulations is imperative.
