Media Relations Internship (Summer 2019)

Job Summary

Job Purpose:

Observe and assist the media relations staff with day-to-day functions and on game nights within the department.

Requirements:

Intern must be entering their junior or senior year in college and must take the internship for credit during the 2019 summer semester.  The internship is unpaid. 

 Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Interns will have interaction with executives of the NHL Team Hockey Club, visiting team personnel and local and national media outlets.
•   The candidates will be expected to act in a professional manner at all times.
• Should the team still be participating in the 2019 postseason when the internship begins, you will be expected to work all games and practices. 
• Interns will help research and compile individual players’ and team stats for the Penguins 2019 media guide.  Ideally, candidates will have a working knowledge of Excel, Word, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. 
• Our ideal candidates will add new creative ideas to the department, especially on social media.
• Interns will be expected to work 12-18 hours per week, not counting games and practices should we still be playing when you begin. You may be asked to work more hours during free agency and the team’s prospect development camp in July.
