Centerplate is the food service and retail provider for Hard Rock Stadium in beautiful Miami Gardens, Florida. Hard Rock Stadium is the home of the Miami Dolphins and University of Miami Hurricanes football teams. The Staffing Manager plays a key role within the Human Resources department (and in some cases works as an extension of HR within other departments such as Beverage or Quick Serve), by focusing on employee scheduling and recruitment to ensure that their assigned unit’s staffing needs are fully met on event days. This position will primarily exist within Centerplate’s Sports/Entertainment venues, and sometimes in Convention Centers.


The Staffing Manager will make themselves highly visible throughout the local community, as they are responsible for employing creative techniques to continually source and recruit suitable new on-call/seasonal/temporary workers and reputable staffing agencies to partner with.


Prior to each season, the Staffing Manager will build a roster of active workers and agencies and will work to develop effective and sustainable relationships so that these partnerships are retained throughout the season.


Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager and GM, the Staffing Manager is additionally responsible for the administration and compliance of temporary employment agency contracts, scheduling, training, payment, communication and all other matters pertaining to these companies.


The Staffing Manager will support the HR function by performing other duties within the department, as assigned by the HR Manager and GM, and they will maintain the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality, as they are exposed to sensitive Company and employee information. The Staffing Manager will act with some independence to ensure fairness and objectivity for all employees while exemplifying and supporting Centerplate’s vision, mission and values.

  • Spearhead unit recruitment efforts for seasonal, temporary and on-call staff through continuous networking and tactical activities such as cold-calling, placing ads, organizing and conducting hiring fairs, posting flyers and arranging informational meetings to introduce the unit as a viable local employer with opportunities for qualified workers

  • Cultivate a thorough understanding of the local labor market; Stay abreast of community market conditions that may impede or support the hiring process and apply market insights in a way that maximizes Centerplate’s ability to acquire top talent.

  • Receive and evaluate applications and resumes; Schedule and conduct telephone interviews and in-person interviews.

  • Extend recruiting efforts by actively reaching out to local and surrounding communities; Attend community events and develop visible presence as a representative of Centerplate.

  • Thoroughly vet temporary agency organizations to ensure they are reputable, professional and have the capability to supply qualified workers; Seek out references from other local companies.

  • Manage all communications with agencies, from initial contact through end of season; Serve as primary point-person for information, questions, concerns, inquiries and on-going dialogue to ensure that Company needs are met and that the partnership is effective.

  • Define interview methodology; Create and execute processes for screening candidates, based on criteria such as business acumen, competency alignment, availability, interest level, pay requirements and basic qualifications.

  • Track and communicate metrics and analytics related to Centerplate’s recruitment activities, including no-shows, turnover trends and frequency, candidate sourcing, candidate demographics, time-to-fill, etc.

  • Ensure that agency representatives have a clear understanding of their responsibilities and expectations related to their partnership with Centerplate; Ensure that they accurately understand the terms of contract agreement, requirements for worker qualifications and the processes associated with event day check-in.

  • Perform data input to produce schedules; Enter scheduling information into time attendance system and produce a Daily Assignment Schedule; Inform department heads of any staffing changes to the schedule on a daily basis.

  • Provide a Detailed Daily Labor Report to all department managers for authorization and signatures, and key into Front End System on a timely basis.

  • Provide a detailed list of all changes in staff by classification and/or seniority to appropriate supervisor on a monthly basis.

  • Organize and implement mandatory training programs for temp and regular workers; Develop and communicate training schedule, coordinate programs and conduct required classes such as Centerplate Front Line Training, TEAM/TIPS, Servsafe etc

  • Coordinate all aspects of check-in process on game/event days; Delegate responsibilities and work with HR team to assign duties and stations to workers.

  • Drive compliance among temporary/seasonal workers with established Centerplate standards for attendance, grooming, guest service, non-harassment, handling conflict situations, etc.

  • Liaise with operations managers and supervisors to gauge overall operational performance of temps and on-call workers; Take immediate action in instances where additional training may be required.

  • Coordinate payment of temporary agencies with Accounting department; Investigate, clarify and resolve payment matters, to include gathering information and owning issues from beginning to end to ensure proper resolution; Ensure the processing of off-cycle payments as necessary.
