Job Summary

SUMMARY

This position will monitor NHL news, games and events and assist in the production of fantasy content and analysis for NHL website and media partners.  It wil be responsible for delivering timely, accurate writing and editing of NHL.com's fantasy-based content to the Senior Fantasy Editor and helping NHL.com Senior Fantasy Editor execute year-round content plan and satisfy sponsorship requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

This position will:

  • Contribute player rankings (positional and overall) for different league formats (standard, keeper, hits, etc.).
  • Responsible for news gathering (reports, lineup and injury trends from practices/morning skates/games).
  • Work closely with MLBAM to ensure proper placement, quality control and search engine optimization of fantasy content.
  • Produce newsworthy fantasy headlines and story descriptions; assist in requesting alerts for NHL app.
  • Assist in the promotion of content on @NHLFantasy social accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
  • Provide player rankings at various points in season and project future performance in major statistical categories.
  • Handle multimedia production tasks and edit fantasy buzz story (daily running blog).
  • Assist in tracking analytical performance of fantasy articles and videos using Adobe Marketing Cloud.
  • Assist in formulating and inputting questions for NHL Hat Trick Challenge game.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in communications (print or broadcast journalism) with sports concentration and at least two seasons of experience covering NHL, preferably from a season-long and/or daily fantasy sports (DFS) perspective.  Must have experience working in a content management system with the ability to quantify value of players based on various factors for purposes of rankings, stat projections and DFS picks, the ability to understand rankings system for preseason and rest of season and an in-depth knowledge of all 31 NHL rosters and active players, along with their lineup and contract situations. 

The qualified candidate will have the ability to distinguish between various fantasy formats (year-long Yahoo, DFS on DraftKings, category-based leagues) and have a strong news sense and provide reaction to League news and its fantasy impact in timely, accurate fashion.  Must be able to identify fantasy statistical trends and implications of lineup and injury developments around NHL.  Must be able to work independently and multi-task on daily basis to deliver various forms of content.  This position requires someone who is able to work flexible hours, including weekends.
