Creative, empathetic, and highly motivated to push the boundaries of ‘wow’ design, the Manager of User Experience and Design will be given full accountability to drive the intuitive and functional aspects of the digital products and experiences we deliver.

This role blends the responsibilities of three core design functions: experience, utility, and digital brand, and leverages these competencies to form the connective tissue that harmonizes creativity with utility while ensuring consumer flow is instinctive and rigorously tested ahead of delivery.

Twenty-eighteen will be an exciting year for the Manager of UX and Design. We have six digital projects on the go ranging from product customization tools to mobile apps to the roll out of four brand new ecommerce websites. You will be tapped to lead the design and experiential aspects of these initiatives and will be given the latitude to pursue opportunities that elevate the brand, in partnership with your peers and agencies.

Responsibilities

  • From a creative lens, you will lead the roll out of four ecommerce websites, a mobile app, and several product customization tools
  • You will partner with both product owners and brand folks to drive a consistent voice and feeling across consumer touchpoints
  • You will join a community of designers who actively share ideas, crowdsource challenges, and propagate digital wisdom throughout the organization
  • You will host User Experience planning events like journey mappingcard sorting, and digital focus groups to help shape digital pathways and unite our teams around a common view
  • You will develop seasonal and annual tactical plans to promote design opportunities that are well supported by data, consumer sentiment, and/or market-trends
  • You prefer to build photorealistic wireframes (or mockups) to showcase concepts and to offer more clarity around design and experience
  • You will leverage platforms and data to test concepts before pushing to an always-active state
  • You will monitor consumer pathways and make sure they align to the North American and International laws surrounding accessibility and inclusion
  • You will seek out partners, internally and from agencies, and evaluate opportunities to elevate consumer experiences, improve processes, and enhance internal capabilities through digital means

Requirements

  • 7 to 10 years in a hands-on design capacity working for a digital agency, a publisher, or in a client-side creative studio
  • A portfolio chalked full of compelling and aspirational designs
  • Proficiency with HTML and CSS
  • Understanding of the latest digital experience frameworks; eg. Google’s Material Design
  • Basic understanding of the capabilities behind single page applications and web accelerators
  • Experience building in languages like react, angular or vue is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to clearly understand challenges and concerns, and develop resolutions.
  • Work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group.
  • Exercise high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others
