Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs reports to the Division I Director of Athletics, assists in the administration of Division I Intercollegiate Athletics, and has responsibility for the supervision of assigned Division I programs.

The position is supervised by the Director of Athletics in the performance of administrative responsibilities for athletic programs, and works collaboratively with the Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Academics on compliance-related responsibilities.

The Associate Director is expected to build and supervise a comprehensive marketing and promotions program for the athletics programs and solicit sponsorship support for athletic events and facilities. The incumbent works collaboratively with all members of the Athletics Department.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

2. 5 - 7 years of experience in athletic administration, and the marketing and promotion of athletic programs and solicitation of sponsorship support for athletic events and facilities, preferably in a higher education athletics setting.

3. Excellent interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills.

4. Knowledge of NCAA intercollegiate athletics regulations regarding boosters and institutional control.

5. Commitment to support the academic progress and development of student-athletes.

6. Must have a First Aid and CPR certification or obtain them during the 90 day Introductory Period. National Red Cross certification preferred.

7. Valid driver's license and accessibility to transportation, and willingness to travel and to attend evening and weekend events.

8. Valid U.S. driver's license from the state in which the candidate resides and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the university's Motor Vehicle policy. A MVC check will be required at the time of hire and thereafter as deemed appropriate by the university. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the MVC check.

9. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
