Job Summary

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Organizes and administers the school’s program of extracurricular athletics and assumes responsibilities for the scheduling and supervision of all intramural and interscholastic athletic events.
  2. Provides leadership in the selection, assignments and evaluation of athletic coaches and trainers. Responsible for managing the compensation of these individuals.
  3. Supervises ongoing training programs for all coaches.
  4. Assumes responsibility for the proper supervision of home games and the availability of game officials, team physicians and security personnel, and compensation of these individuals as required.
  5. Arranges for the transportation for athletic competitions.
  6. Develops and implements appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities and ensures compliance with rules promulgated by the GISA.
  7. Attend Athletic Director meetings required by the GISA and all Region 4-AAA Meetings
  8. Verifies each athlete’s eligibility according to established physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport and obtains written parent permission for each student to participate.
  9. Prepares and administers the athletic program budget and requisitions program supplies and equipment.
  10. Supervise all ticket sales and is active with all fundraising events of the athletic programs/Booster Club and assumes responsibilities for proper handling of funds.
  11. Arranges/prepares field and gym for practice schedules. Makes arrangements for the use of non-school playing fields and facilities as necessary.
  12. Supervises the care, maintenance and storage of all athletic facilities, equipment, uniforms, and supplies and maintains a current inventory.
  13. Arranges for the physical examination of all athletes prior to each season.
  14. Works with the CFO to administer the insurance program covering school athletes and assumes responsibilities for processing reports and claims.
  15. Maintains records of athletic contests and award winners and plans and supervises and seasonal/annual recognition program for athletes.
  16. Fosters good school community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
  17. The Athletic Director, or his/her designee, will report athletic competition scores/results to the media in a timely fashion.
  18. Works closely with the college counseling team to assist eligible athletes in pursuing intercollegiate athletic programs.
  19. Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
  20. Participates as an active member of the Administrative Team and the Booster Club.
  21. Performs other duties which may be within the scope of his/her employment as may be assigned by the Head of School (such as teaching, coaching, advisory duties, search committees, SACS accreditation work, faculty/staff committees, etc.)
  22. Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in and an understanding of independent school education is an advantage.
  • Enjoy spending time with teachers, students, and families.
  • Relate comfortably and, when necessary, firmly with students, coaches, and parents.
  • Coaching and/or administrative experience and an understanding of the importance of strong academics balanced by co-curricular and extracurricular participation for both teachers and students is an advantage.
  • Be an inspirational, innovative, and energetic leader who practices collaboration and understands the importance of strong decision making.
  • Have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Possess proven skills in administration and organization.
  • Be confident and comfortable in dealing with issues related to civility, integrity, and individual responsibility as part of Augusta Prep’s shared values.
  • A combination of patience, confidence, enthusiasm, humility, and humor will serve the AD well.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required. Having a Master’s degree or equivalent is an advantage.

Other Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and or human resources.
  2. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  3. Perform other duties assigned
  4. Provide leadership to others through example and sharing knowledge/skill.
  5. Reading & understanding training material provided to you.

Compensation: competitive salary based on experience
