Job Summary
Job Overview
- Full-time, twelve-month position provides an athletic trainer in the Department of Athletics.
- Primary responsibilities include assisting the Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer in providing injury prevention, evaluation, management, treatment and rehabilitation to the intercollegiate athletic population.
- Serve as the lead trainer for various sports that will be determined in consultation with the Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer.
- Additional responsibilities include supervision of athletic training students in our CAATE-Accredited program, team travel, and assistance in other sports as assigned.
Job Description
Primary Duties:
- Preparing student-athletes for workouts, practices and competition.
- Providing evaluations of, treatment for and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for collegiate student-athletes.
- Athletics Training administrative duties including:
- Maintaining complete medical records filing system for students to utilize in educational process.
- Providing sufficient opportunity for appropriate student review.
- Utilization of commonly used administrative records and forms in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Acting as liaison between student-athletes, coaches, administration, parents, medical personnel and other support staff in matters of health and welfare of student-athletes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Kinesiology or related field.
- Certification by the NATA Board of Certification.
- Professional CPR/AED and First Aid Certified.
- At least one year of experience as a certified athletic trainer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in athletic training or related field.
- Certified Athletic Training experience at the college level.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with students, faculty, coaches, administrators and staff.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and solve complex problems.
- Experience with and commitment to working with diverse student populations.
- Exhibit a commitment to abide by all University, conference, NCAA and athletics training regulations.
