Job Summary

Position Summary

• Assisting the Head Coach in the care and leadership of a designated sport and to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the Head Coach in his or her absence.
• Expected to follow all NCAA, Conference Carolinas, and College policies.

Responsibilities

• To assist in coaching intercollegiate athletics in the assigned sport.
• To assist in preparing and controlling the team’s budget.
• To assist in scheduling competitive contests after approval of the Director of Athletics.
• To assist and play a lead role in the recruiting of prospective student-athletes.
• To encourage and promote excellence in academics from student-athletes.
• To assist in making all arrangements for home and away contests.
• To assist in ordering and coordinating needed athletic equipment.
• To organize and conduct practice sessions.
• To follow the directions set forth by the Head Coach.
• To counsel and advise team members.
• To engage in public relations activities and promote the team.
• To conduct the sport’s program within all NCAA, Conference Carolinas, and College policies and guidelines.

Expectations

• Exercise exemplary Christian commitment and character at all times.
• Display adequate knowledge and technical skills of the sport.
• Assist in operating program within designated budget.
• Field a team that finishes in the top half of Conference Carolinas.
• Follow NCAA and Athletic Department procedures as outline in the NCAA Manual and the Athletic Staff Manual.
• Assist in overseeing team academic performance, with team GPA consistent with general student body.
• Assist in recruit roster with the minimum number of players outlined by the athletic director.
• Assist the office of Admissions in recruiting of “try-out” players.
• Require players to exhibit exemplary character both on and off the field.
• Assist the Head Coach as he or she conducts on-campus summer camps and/or "Quality Events” to attract students to campus.
• Display a positive, professional approach and support for the College and its athletic programs.
• Other tasks set forth by Head Coach.
