Job Summary

Franklin & Marshall College seeks a talented Assistant Certified Athletic Trainer for a 10-month (June & July off), full-time position. Reporting to the Director of Sports Medicine, the Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing athletic training services, conditioning, and rehabilitative services to student-athletes. The Assistant Athletic Trainer must have a working knowledge and commitment to the rules and regulations of the NCAA, the Centennial Conference, Title IX and equal opportunity regulations, FERPA, and all applicable College policies and practices. Primary responsibilities will include: • Preventing, assessing, treating, managing, and rehabilitating athletic injuries and conditions affecting athletes. • Providing coverage during practices and events, including evening and weekend events. • Consulting with coaches regarding conditioning, nutrition, and safety of athletes. • Primary sport assignments: Football, Women's Basketball, Women's Lacrosse, M/W Squash, M/W Rowing. Regular attendance at games, practices and meetings is required. Requirements: Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least one year of related professional experience as an athletic trainer. The successful candidate will possess an understanding and appreciation of the role of athletics at a liberal arts college, superior verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a team environment with diverse students and coaches, and must possess the following: • Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association; • Pennsylvania state certification or eligible; • Certification in C.P.R., AED, and first aid. The ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential. Because this position requires driving for College business, the successful candidate must possess a U.S. or Canadian driver's license which has been valid for at least two years, have a driving record that is free from excessive motor vehicle violations within the last three years, and have had no convictions in the last 24 months for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Because this position works with minors (non-F&M students under the age of 18) mandatory training must be completed prior to working with minors. The online training course must be completed at least once every two years by faculty, staff and Franklin & Marshall students who interact with minors. Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of reference checks, a criminal background verification, Pennsylvania ACT 153 background clearances, and verification of credentials. The College will coordinate these verifications.
