Job Summary
Essential Functions
Health Care Provider Services:
- Develop and regulate policies, procedures and protocols for athletic training services based on NATA professional standards, NCAA recommendations, and team physicians' advice
- Provide sport coverage including attendance at scheduled team practices, home and away competitions as necessary
- Coordinate, ensure, and supervise the daily operation of Athletic Training services
- Make independent decisions regarding the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, immediate care, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic related injury/illnesses, screening of pathologies, and referral of student-athletes to appropriate medical providers
Medical Records and Documentation:
- Ensure HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) compliant
- Maintenance of injury reports, rehabilitation protocols, and student-athletes medical files
Athletic Training Administration:
- Communication between administration, coaches, student-athletes and medical providers
- Establishes, builds and maintains partnerships with local medical community and team physicians
- Medical coordinator and supervisor for pre-participation physicals exam for all sports
- Manages medical coverage and staffing
- Ensures adherence/compliance with NCAA sports medicine policy and procedures
- Budget awareness - cost efficiency/inventory
Clinical Supervision of Undergraduate Athletic Training Students:
- Preceptor of clinical athletic training students - supervision, guiding, mentoring, and educating athletic training students
- Adherence/Compliant with Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) standards
Risk Management Oversight:
- Development and adhere to policy/procedures to aid in risk management
- Emergency Action Plan (EAP) - review/demonstrate with coaches, athletic staff, and students on a regular basis
- Monitoring environmental conditions using appropriate methods and guidelines to facilitate the safety of athletic teams
- Coordinate and ensures the CPR, AED, First Aid certification and Concussion education for all full time coaches
Qualifications/Requirements
- Master's Degree in Athletic Training or related field required
- BOC Athletic Training Certification in good standing with the BOC, State of Florida License in Athletic Training in active standing with the state board
- 3-5 years of related experience
- Must have skills in Practice and game sport health management
- Proficiencies in MS Office, electronic medical records, BIODEX or related system
- Advanced filing and medical records maintenance in line with HIPAA and FERPA
- Ability to operate Therapeutic modalities and therapeutic exercise equipment, emergency care equipment and drive a golf cart
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of injury tracking software
- Knowledge and understanding of operational policy/procedures for athletic department
- Knowledge and understanding of medical billing and provider reimbursement
- Ability to adaption to change
- Ability to set long and short term goals
