Equipment Mechanic

Job Summary

Minimum Qualifications

• Three years of related experience. Valid driver's license, insurable by University insurance carrier, and employment physical.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Mechanical-related field or on job experience will be considered

• Knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment; knowledge of care and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment

• Strong mechanical skills with thorough knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, gasoline and diesel engine operation, repair and maintenance

• Basic computer skills required in budgeting and record keeping

• Ability to grind reels to meet turf grass health needs

• Ability to work nights and weekends, holidays, or winter breaks in a variety of weather conditions will be essential to the job responsiblities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee equipment and provide support with preventative maintenance programs and repairs

• Provide instruction on equipment maintenance and care for full-time and temporary staff

• Assist Superintendent with maintenance equipment budget monitoring; make recommendations on new equipment needs and cost saving opportunities

• Maintain safe, clean work environment

• Maintains logs for each piece of equipment regarding daily usage and fuel consumption. 

• Maintains maintenance logs for preventative maintenance.
