Job Summary
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
- The Head Men's Tennis Coach is responsible for the leadership, development and management of the intercollegiate men's tennis program and for teaching physical education or HESS courses.
- The head coach is responsible for the safety and conduct of the team and complying with university, conference and NCAA regulations.
- Coaching duties include but are not limited to planning all aspects of the program: team selections, preparing the team for contests through practice and conditioning, scouting opposing teams and developing and applying team rules.
- The head coach is responsible for fostering a positive and inclusive team culture focused on the growth of the student-athlete.
- Administrative duties include scheduling of practices and matches, budget management, organization of home matches and travel to away matches, supporting the academic success of athletes, supervision of an assistant, working in collaboration with the equipment and support staff, and providing the Sports Information Office with appropriate information for publications and press releases.
- The coach is responsible for recruiting talented, diverse, and academically qualified student-athletes for the sport.
- Recruiting duties include identifying and contacting prospective students, arranging campus visits, developing printed recruiting materials, meeting with prospective students who have self-selected an interest in tennis in the college application process, and assisting the Admissions Office with special events.
- The coach will also teach physical education courses and complete administrative duties as assigned, participate actively in the university community and serve on appropriate university and department committees.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master's degree in physical education or a related field is required.
- Candidates must have a sound knowledge and successful experience in coaching of intercollegiate men's tennis; 3-5 years of coaching experience (college and head coaching experience preferred); must have the ability to teach physical education courses; must be able to articulate how they will actively support and cultivate inclusion and diversity on their team; and must have current certification in first aid, CPR and AED prior to coaching.
- Demonstrate an understanding of NCAA Division III regulations regarding men's intercollegiate tennis.
